Lizzie joined ICROFS (at that time DARCOF) in January 2004. She is now mainly working on certification and control of organic products and EU policy, which is relevant for the "organic" development. She has worked on “organic” EU research projects in FP5, FP6 and FP7 since 2003 as scientific and/or administrative coordinator, WP manager and/or scientific expert in the EU research projects, “Harmonised and standardised procedures for evaluation of plant protection products, fertilizers and soil conditioners for use in organic agriculture”, www.organicinputs.org (FP5), “European Information System for Organic Markets”, www.eisfom.org (FP5), “Research to support the revision of the EU Regulation on organic agriculture”, www.organic-revision.org (FP6), the ERA-net, “Coordination of European transnational research in organic food and farming,” www.coreorganic.org and “Economic analysis of certification systems for organic food and farming”, www.certcost.org (FP7), which started September 2008 and runs for three years.
Tasks include
• EU FP 7 project “Economic analysis of certification systems for organic food and farming.
• Fund raising with focus on the EU Framework programmes
• Advice concerning legal, financial, and administrative aspects of contracting and managing of research projects.
Previous professional experience
From 1998 to 2003 Lizzie was employed in the central administration of the Danish Institute of Agricultural Sciences (DJF) (now the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, University of Aarhus) working as the coordinator of the scientific advisory service towards the Ministry for Food Agriculture and Fisheries and as the Danish Contact point towards the European Environmental Agency on agriculture. Besides, she was the international project advisor for the DJF researchers with special focus on the EU Framework Programmes for research. In addition she has more than 10 years experience as consultant in organic waste management and recycling in the private environmental Consultancy Branch, where she worked as project leader and later director and part-owner of a company. She has lived on a small organic farm, which has been farmed organic since 1988.
Educational background
Lizzie graduated as M.Sc. in Environmental Biology from the University of Copenhagen and as M. Sc, in Agriculture from the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University in Copenhagen. |
