

ICROFS attends BioFach 2009
On February 19-22. 2009, the international organic market met for the twentieth time at BioFach,
the global organic trade fair.

actively at the BioFach 2009 World Fair, the platform for representatives from the organic world to network to meet and share experience.
Presentations from the scientific seminars
ICROFS was involved in coordinating three research-based workshops/seminars at the BioFach 2009 event (together with FQH and Organic Denmark):
- Latest research results on organic food quality and health (FQH)
- Organic Farming to mitigate climate change - different regional perspectives
- Improving food security among smallholder farmers in developing countries

Organic Country of the Year
This year, Denmark is "Country of the Year 2009.” Therefore the Danish Ministry of Food and Agriculture and ICROFS represented Denmark jointly at a common fair booth.
In addition, researchers affiliated with ICROFS research projects participated in a series of seminars, where a number of topics with relevance to organic commerce and consumers will be discussed on a research basis.
Among the topics are food security, organics and climate challenges, organic food quality and health.
The fair Biofach is held in Nuremberg, Germany, and gathers around 2,700 exhibitors and 46,000 visitors from more than 120 countries each year.

New ICROFS fact sheets
On occasion of the BioFach 2009 fair, ICROFS has made three fact sheets entitled: How organic Agriculture May Feed the World, Organic Agriculture and Climate Challenges, and Organic Food Quality and Health.
