CORE Organic assistant coordinator
CORE Organic is a collaboration between 27 research funding bodies from 22 European countries with the aim of coordinating research efforts in organic food and farming. This so-called ERA net supports transnational research projects and will enter into a second phase involving deeper and broader collaboration. The European Commission intends to support the collaboration between partners and the management of the ERA net. ICROFS will coordinate this effort and the assistant coordinator will be responsible for the successful start of the second phase and for securing progress according to the work plans and helping initiating new calls for projects. The assistant coordinator will work closely with – and receive direction from – the director of ICROFS.
Main tasks will include but not be limited to:
- Communicating with partners of CORE Organic and with the European Commission
- Planning and organising meetings, preparing material and minutes
- Following up on strategy and decisions taken by partners and on the work plans in project document
- Servicing the chair of CORE Organic
- Liaising with the European Commission, member states and other stakeholders
- Communicating with transnational project coordinators and following up on reporting and results
- Organising joint transnational calls for research projects
- Assisting in communication tasks in the form of information material, newsletters and internet (websites)
- Overseeing maintenance and use of the open access database Organic Eprints including participating in its development and liaising with editors
- Some international travels must be expected
Preferable qualifications
- Experience with research coordination and a good overview of research in organic food systems
- Experience from and good personal qualifications in relation to liaising with a group of international partners
- Strong international profile with experience from working outside the country of origin
- Knowledge and interest in web-based communication
- Knowledge of a Scandinavian language or willingness to learn is an advantage
Employment conditions and salary
The chosen candidate will be offered a full time job starting 1 January 2010 or as soon as possible.
The position is covered by the terms of the collective agreements for academic staff in state institutions depending on qualifications and experience, plus pension scheme.
The International Centre for Research in Organic Food Systems (ICROFS) is a centre without walls funded by the Danish Ministry of Food and Agriculture. The objective of ICROFS is to support the production of research results for the further development of organic farming and food. The centre initiates, supports and coordinates research of high quality in Denmark, Europe and internationally by involving researchers from a large number of universities and research institutions.
